The body therapy with roots in
Traditional Chinese Medicine.

What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a Japanese massage technique spread from Japan to Europe in the early 20th century. Its origins lie in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Tuina massage practiced there.
Pressure (atsu) is applied to acupuncture points with the fingers (shi), the whole hand and the elbow. Shiatsu treatment aims to restore the flow of energy in the energy pathways of the body (meridians).

How does Shiatsu work?

The life energy of man flows through our body in energy channels (meridians). These meridians influence every single organ and all end at different points on the skin. Body, mind and spirit are brought into balance by applying pressure to these body points along the meridians. In doing so, Shiatsu follows the understanding of the five transformational phases or the five elements and organ energies anchored in TCM teachings, the theory of Yin and Yang.
The nervous system is stimulated. This form of body therapy activates self-healing powers and has a calming effect on the psyche as a result of regaining body balance. Many diseases and symptoms are of a psychological nature.
Physically, manual therapy improves blood circulation. Joints and musculoskeletal system are mobilized. This energetic body work is done by circling, pressing, grasping and holding the energy points, which are also used in acupuncture and acupressure.

Procedure

During the Shiatsu treatment you will lie on a mat on the floor. This makes it easier to apply the right pressure to the acupuncture points.
